This is an engine from the Testors Galax IV Hovercraft. As you will see, it uses a remote tank and is easily mounted. Mounting pattern is the same as a Cox .049 tanked engine or Cub .049A.
Perfect engine for a little experimenting/comparison.

Re: Testors project engine??
Not sure how many spare parts were available, but I've never seen the mount offered anywhere, or for any other application, just the Galax.
I have two but have to admit that I've never run one. The venturi assy. snaps into the back of the mount and one of mine is missing. I just carved the venturi out of a postage stamp backplate and intend to glue it in. The reed holder's part of the mount so I don't see why it shouldn't run ok with the Cox venturi.
Earlier Testors reedies had a star shaped reed like Cox, only made from Mylar. The rectangular ones that Rene shows are Mylar as well I believe.

Re: Testors project engine??
Modifying the Testors engines is probably a little dangerous. In standard form they are reasonably reliable, but push them hard and they break the rod or crank-pin. I haven't measured venturi size, but I imagine, being the same .049 capacity as a Cox engine, that the size would be equivalent. Power is pretty equivalent to a Babe/Golden Bee, if not a little more. Not quite up to a Black Widow.davidll1984 wrote:y first tink it was metal is intake ventury hole is same as cox standar timbledrome pee wee engines is it biger ? using black widow tank ventury seize mebee give litle more power ?

Re: Testors project engine??
I used to have a contact at testors parts dept. They had a three foot square box full of those engines and didnt know what they were. I had a deal with them for 5 bucks each. I used them for rebuild kits for my wen macs, and flew some as well. After some use the mount will start working loose and the engine will vibrate.

Do you have any parts left? I wouldn't mind replacing my missing Galax venturi to have the engine complete.

Yeah, postage from the US has gotten pretty steep. Just First Class in a pedded envelope would be the best option I suspect.
If you happen to stumble across a venturi, I'd be keen to know.
Cheers.
