I love the guy, read everything about him that I could put my hands on. The Smithsonian channel and American Hero's Channel profile him frequently. Not just him, but he brought a lot of his buddies over too.

Yeah, and another thing is that all the calculations of the Space program were made in metric too. The gauges in the craft and in the mission command were imperial, because all the astronauts and mission control people were originally airplane pilots and were fluent with imperial units.
