Without some kind of provenance it's just hearsay?  No proof?
shorten the e-bay link to :  https://www.ebay.com/itm/364021453234

Well, if it sells for more than the starting bid, I may have to strip the color anodizing off of one of mine, and sell it too!

Like Mudhen used to say, never buy the story only the item...or something to that effect. For starters I see the needle is wrong as is the glowhead. Also if you give anodized parts a bath in Drain-O the aluminum will become a dull color, like the engine in the listing.

Looks like it's media blasted, or lye soaked like Mark suspects. An RR-1 is always nice, and I would buy that one if the price was right. With the blasted surface and no chance to see what's inside, for me the right price would be more like $49.50 and that'd better include shipping too. But I am cheap Very Happy

The look of that backplate alone doesn't look natural.

Yup, that yells "media blasted" to me. Something strange around the air intake too, the photo is a little out of focus but still.

Could be that the world has just gone crazy and our little gems are the "new gold". Look at these:

Looks like my "collection" (a couple of shoeboxes full) could easily pay my electric bills for a couple of years Very Happy
