Re: My Cox Jeep
Very nice. I have been kicking around Cox products for many years and have no relationship with the Cox Jeep. It must be rather rare when compared with the Cox Mercedes, Shrike, Baja Bug and others. I checked ebay for sales and there are a couple there by a single seller but they are not cheap.

Do you run it any ? It looks good just sitting there shining , with a G.I. Joe sitting in the driver seat could go anywhere !

I am the original owner. I would run it as a kid. It was boxed for a long time and I cleaned it up and started running it again last year. The smell of Nitro/ Castor fuel brings back great memories!

Cox jeep
That's a sharp looking Jeep. I have collected and sold a lot of them in the last 20 years. I currently have one new in the box, and one new outside of the box, both have not been run, and I have one from the YouTube video from years back which I just recently painted a desert sand color and I'm in the process of giving it the desert camouflage. I'm fortunate to have spare parts especially the tires. As I mentioned in another post there's a guy on eBay reproducing a lot of the fuel tanks and I'm going to buy some more so I can run these things till retirement. What is very interesting if you look at the 1972 or 1973 Cox catalog and look at the prototype Jeep you can see it's actually mounted on a sandblaster chassis. Years back when I was testing a lot of these engines I installed a TD cylinder and had the engine running so fast that it broke the connecting rod and crankshaft and poked a hole through the engine crankcase. When the Jeeps first came out it appeared that Cox was using the best delrin cream white colored horseshoe style engine back plates which were basically indestructible. At one point I ran the Jeep 10 times in a row on the Cox 35% nitro racing fuel and it did not affect the back plate at all. Later on they went to a red horseshoe style back plate I don't know if it was a cheaper delrin or they use nylon but the crankcase would get so hot that it would melt the back plate and you lose your intake vacuum.
