I just ran a Norvel Big Mig .061 revlite engine that has been sitting in my garage for at least 20 years. I have run a pre-revlite R/C Big Mig and revlite AME's but never a revlite Big Mig C/L. All I can say is "WOW!!!!" I filled the cylinder with castor and ran it through over 1000 RPM, put it on the stand, left the muffler off and installed an APC 6X3 prop. I ran it on Sig Champion 25%. It was very sensative due to the cylinder pinch. Other than that it was incredible. With the muffler off it ran between 19,800 and 20,250 and with the muffler on it ran around 18,600. My old R/C Big Mig never came close to these numbers. I think I will put it on the old Sig Hummer and give it a go. It should give a good top end speed with a lot of thrust compared to what I am used to. WOW!

If you can get your hands on one, try an APC 5.7x3 --- this prop has gotten good reports over in the RCU forum.

Thanks Andrew. I should have thought of that. The 5.7X3 is one of my favorite props. I like to cut it down to 5 inches or shorter for the faster turning engines or use it as is as a good general purpose prop. Great prop.

Thanks,

Bob

Bob --
I've never cut down an APC only because the tip design seems to be pretty efficient and I worried that the tips might delaminate . On your Hummer, a COX gray 5x3, Rubber Ducky 5x3 or a MA 6x3 cut to 5" might also run well. In the absence of a COX or APC prop, the cut down MA 6x3 has a pretty generous blade area, but at 5" doesn't overload the engine so you get decent speed and good vertical.
