Wanted: TD .010 Fuel Tank

Post  microflitedude on Thu Jul 05, 2012 6:32 pm

Looking to buy an .010 attached tank for my new engine. Black or red, doesn't matter.

I know Mecoa carries them, but I have heard they are sketchy and have poor customer service.

I like trades too.

Wanted: TD .010 Fuel Tank

Post  Ken Cook on Thu Jul 05, 2012 7:01 pm

I found Mecoa to be extremely helpful. I had a Austrian HB .40 size engine which has been out of production since the 80's and they helped me get every needed part. I was almost certain that they wouldn't have them and they called me back and had all the carb parts as well. It can be difficult at times to get proper response through the net. I know it shouldn't be that way but unfortunately it is. The owner is Randy, he has a lot of outside work as well as his modelling end. I certainly feel his costs for that particular part is quite a fair price.Ken

Calling is the best way to get ahold of MECOA if you have a question. I have placed multiple web orders for Cox, KB, and HB engine parts from them. Only delay was when a part was back ordered for 3 weeks.

He is the only one that has the origional cox molds for the tanks and the carb bodies. We are at his mercy for these parts.

MECOA is moving to a new location. I've been waiting a long time for a part I ordered.

So that means they won't ship anything you order?

Is tank for show or go ? I have a box of small Perfect tanks is small sizes. Wonder why other vendors don't have them. Seems many tanks go bad after awhile. Mecoa buys up all old engine making items. Then list them and years later nada. Been a dozen years waiting for new Holland Hornets/ down to my last half dozen.. Also Johnson engine. oh well never I guess. I must have gotten last six tanks they had. Bought a small bag from old timer out at Eloy contest. Most of the Td .010's looked real good except tanks were toast and plastic red carb cover. Haven't gotten around to finishing them.

I plan on using it. I don't have any tanks smaller than 3/4 oz.

Matt, If you decide to go the external tank route, I
have a backplate for you.

Thanks Bob, but I do have the plain back plate for it. I wanted to get an attached tank to make things simpler/easier. I tried running it with a 3/4 oz tank, but had no luck. I've since rebuilt it, maybe I should try again.
