Yo Mark! Thanks ! Here are a few photos of the Corsair:

Also...great looking Super Sinbad...do you have much time on it? I built what I named a "Sinbot"...the Berkley "Sinbad" with a Zaic wing. Flys OK on it's .020 power pod, but is so light that I have to watch that I don't lose it, or get it a breeze that won't let it come home.

Guess I ought to take this to a new thread !!!

It's still a Control Liner, and always will be. These planes are pretty heavy, just as the sit, and don't make good R/C conversions. I HAVE considered taking measurements and tracings to allow me to build a "Conterfeit" R/C version...just to freak out my Old-School C.L. Buds !

I KNOW it's evil...but just can't HELP imagining a video of a "Cox RTF Corsair" tracking around toward the camera, then breaking to the right in a low-level roll, followed by a loop...all the while, trailing a short length of "control lines" from it's left wingtip !!!

lol, I always thought that would be neat, say at a model expo, to start up a plastic RTF in the C/L circle and then have it fly off controlled by R/C! I still think with micro r/c gear a pt-19 or simular could fly as r/c?

The Sinbad was a part of a 'deal' I've never flown it, but 'cause I thought it was neat kept it.

There was a dude who converted a PT-19. He said it flew extremely fast and dropped like a rock once the fuel was spent.

someone once said "if you have enough power you can even fly a rock" or even a lawnmower. the PT-19 RC problem may be in the static CG. when the plane is powered the CG really doesn't matter if you have enough power, but without power the CG is very important to gliding.

Oh, I'm sure it could be done...and I'm the Last One to be dissing experimentation! I just HAD to have an R.C. "Scout", and it's wooden structure let me cut some corners with weight and such. It flew OK, but never was the thrill I'd thought it would be. Guess I still like to see them hanging out on the end of their lines!
Like everything else here, it's a preference call !

Good points on CG. I scratch built my first two planes knowing nothing about CG. I operated on "that looks about right". Smile Surprisingly, they both exceeded my expectations and were excellent fliers. (until power lines and terra firma)
Now it seems like none of my planes will fly right, with all this CofG business. lol!

Did you say lawnmowers could fly? Very Happy

I'd think it was more of a wing loading issue then CG?

Also, along the lines of the 'Lawn Mower' about 20+ years ago I remember seeing a R/C plane that looked like a Porsche race car, but have never seen it since, I've surfed it a couple times with no luck?

p.s. and yes Mark i ignored the obvious wing loading. i forgot we were talking about injected plastic models not super light foam or balsa.

I built one of those flying mowers long ago but never flew it. Still got the plans around here somewhere. Wonder if one could be made for 1/2A control line??
