In all these years I've never had a prop strike to my hand that required a bandaid. I guess I've been using cut down props for so long I forgot how far out a 6" prop reaches. I was fiddling with the MP Jet and it reached out and got me. I wouldn't have considered it noteworthy except that it looks really cool.

Dang, I thought I had gotten all those black speckles of paint off before I took the picture.

Yeah, I hope it leaves a scar. Laughing It's probably not deep enough though, except right at the knuckle. I'm going to try not to do that again.

Yeah, and don't forget to oil it up when you're done so you don't get any rust or corrosion.

Nice!,,The cut lines are tight, some good rpms there. One of the reasons I started painting the tips of my props, on both sides.

Had one wack me right across the edge of the skin where the fingernail emerges. As the finger nail grew out, there was a nice little divit in the nail. I don't care how big and tough you think you are, if you get hit right in that spot, your gonna do the ouchie dance.

I'd like to see a video of that dance. Bet it's pretty funny. I can say that because I've done it enough myself.

Keith:

Prop strikes on the digits are just a "rite of passage" that elevates your status in the modeling world. Welcome!

I am hereby elevated. Thanks Dave, I feel better now.

Say, guys, what's the best kind of paint to use on plastic props? I've been meaning to ask even before that one tried to eat me. I have a gallon of white oil based barn door paint. I'm guessing oil paint is best? Certainly not latex. I have some white acrylic spray paint too.

I use junkyard paint,, in the little rattle ball dabber style of paint pen. I tape off even amounts of blade tips, scuff with some sandpaper or emory cloth, then a swipe of CRC QD Electrical Cleaner for cleansing, then paint away. let sit overnight. Tape balance before use.

It's not a concourse painting job, just something to get some visibility to the blade tips as they sling by.

I use the CRC QD cleaner just because it has been my go to cleaner for many years and it strips just about any materials or metals to hospital clean. Much cheaper at Wal Mart, but auto parts stores should carry it.

Auto parts store should have the junkyard paint pen. yellow or white,,your choice.

To elevate you status even FURTHER experience an RC "fly away" as your plane heads off into yonder horizon out of control with a nearly full tank of fuel. Wave it "bye, bye" as it goes. Sad Sad

At that point, you can't decide whether you still want your personal information on the plane or not...

Not even a scratch on the paint!

Until I learn to to fly RC, the closest I'm going to come is having my control handle break in half and set my Jumpin' Bean free on the first lap.
