JK Aerotech Slick Mount

JK Aerotech Slick Mount
Recently while straightening up a few things and organizing I came across this nice little piece. I knew I had this one, I just put things in places not to lose them and I lose them. I've used and built a plane currently utilizing this setup. All cnc machined aluminum tank bank which uses a 35 mm film canister for a tank. It's a clunk as well and can easily be configured for a uniflow clunk if one desires. A very neat piece of engineering and the bolt pattern is for Sure Starts, Killer Bee and other production backplates. In my experience, I found the engine to run a bit long and this would probably suit the R/C crowd. Does anyone have experience with these mounts?. I'm somewhat contemplating selling this. I know these are not currently available. I'm curious as to those who have used this. I do know in my experience, the stock 35 mm plastic container broke due to a crash and I want to try the black ones as they seem indestructible. I was using the clear version of cansiter shown in the package which seems a bit more brittle. The picture shown doesn't show the engine mounting holes just the tank side. Ken

JK Aero Slick Mount
Ken,
If you decide to sell it, I would like to buy it. I want to get it to match up with an old R/C kit that I have called the SB-2 Scout. It looks like it would work well.....

J.K. Aerotech appears to be selling them again. They're back on their website. I have two of them plus several black film canisters. A fine idea, IMHO, especially if you want a half hour flight!

That's a ripoff! They weigh a few grams! They're surely worth ten bucks, but not twenty plus another twenty for shipping.
I bought my two at his store four or five years ago, when I still lived in Portland, Oregon. They cost ten bucks then.

RE: JK Aerotech Slick Mount
Yea, I have watched his website for availability but the high freight charge stopped me. Fortunately, since my last post on this topic I did some trading with a buddy and got both the radial mount for KB's and the beam mount for Norvel / TD's. Both were like new but I changed out the film canisters and fuel lines and got rid of the heavy clunks by replacing with some new Dragonfly clunks. Now I think they are better than new. I also scored a new Slick Mount NIP for Medallion/TD .09 at a swap meet which I didn't know they ever sold.
Looking forward to using them soon........

I stopped the on line transaction (shipping cost way too high) and sent a note to the "contact us" link
Fast response with offer to do off line sale for $7.00 shipping. I replied YES but he went dark with no further response
I will follow up later today

JK Aerotech was sold by the original owners around 2013 - of which I am one
I realize this is an old post and thread but since I just joined the Cox forum I would like to at least have a say in what was up with the company and lack of customer service. My brother and I designed and manufactured the various Slickmounts for 049 Cox and Norvel motors. We also manufactured a line of 1/12 scale combat kits, slope soaring planes and several other kits. We sold the business around 2011 (?) if I remember right and the new owners didn't do well and folded a couple years later. We would have never charged 19 bucks to ship a couple Slickmoumts. The "J" portion of JK Aerotech - my brother Jim - is an excellent machinist and the mounts were well made and worked very well. They came about because I - the "K" portion - loved to fly 1/2 A and really needed a better way to fly RC using the little motors. So we came up with the Slickmount. We sold a ton of them so I know there must be a bunch of them kicking around folks work shops. I don't know if anyone will read this but that is the back story for whomever it may concern. Thanks, Ken

Re: JK Aerotech Slick Mount
I still have two of them for the Cox horseshoe backplates. I have plans on using one for a freeflight plane which I plan to use rudder only. I remember you also sold the Killer Bee backplates which I bought two as well.
