RknRusty wrote:5-40 is an odd size. For some reason stores skip it and sell #4 and #6, but not #5 screws. Good luck finding them Maybe if there is a Grainger in your area they might have them. They don't have #2-56. Radio shack actually sells #2 screw, washer and nut assortments of pretty good metal.
I've gotten 5-40 x 1" screws at Ace Hardware out of one of their standard hardware assortment trays (Think it also held 4-40 stuff as well). Standard straight blade screw, nothing fancy. Might be worth a look if there is an Ace franchise in the area.

Yep, different guy. I need to stop being cheap and place an order.
Do you think it would make it here before the 20th Bernie?

Re: Really?????????
If you place your order with us today and identify the items you need by the 20th, I will see to it that you get them in time, one way or the other.

Re: Really?????????
Done. Don't kill yourself on shipping. 6 days should be sufficient to get it here. I think.......I just need enough time to install, test and get them to Kim by the 26th.
Thanks Bernie!

Re: Really?????????
Regular air mail takes between 6-10 days and more than likely will not make it on time.
However, Xpresspost is like 3-4 days and costs $29. This is/was my plan:
If I send down an engine for the tach race, can you include it with yours that you are sending Kim? Also, I will ask Kim if there is anything else he could use from our side.
Would you do that for us

Re: Really?????????
Just to be clear, I wanted to add a comment to this thread so that those reading this in the future will have a better understanding of the intent of the post.
I wrote originally just to share my experiences as a newb setting up engines for a tach race and my findings through trial and error. Performance engines are not designed for durability and long life so as such broken parts are expected in the pursuit of speed. I was in no way taking a jab at our supporters who have provided excellent products at reasonable prices.
Put simply, an engine designed to run at 15K or less become somewhat fragile when modified to run at 19K+. The parts that broke on my engines were second hand and "As is" parts so in no way are the suppliers of the parts responsible for the problems I encountered.
That is all.....

Re: Really?????????
Ron,
It was never taken the wrong way.
When I initially replied I thought these were our premium parts and the crank should be good for 30,000+ RPM, hence offered a replacement.
Then I remembered the "seconds" and posted the little disclaimer.
We monitor forums and are proactive when we spot potential issues with any of our products - all in the interest of exceptional customer service
