I feel the need, the need for speed
Here are a couple of videos of 1/2A SWRs (sheet wing racers) doing their thing --- gettin' after it.
The first is a SWR Mustang built on Guillows dimensions, but sheet rather than sticks. Fora .049, 4.2x4 APC, 32K rpm on 15%, 25" span, 12 oz. RTF.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80SG-_4uWBI
The second is another SWR with V-tail. Cyclon .061, 20% nitro, 20% Klotz, dopplered at 149 mph.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-ZR-lqqWSc
SWRs are just that, planes with plank 1/4" thick wings that have been razor planed to a flat bottom airfoil shape. Normally, the wings will have a carbon fiber spar inlet into the wing for about 2/3 of the span. To get the speeds, it's necessary to keep them slick and light, usually 11 to 13 oz. RTF
Both of these were built and flown by Combatpigg, a speed freak poster in RCU. For other videos of his work, search Youtube for Combatpigg.
Just a little something to get your blood pumping.
