Re: first nitro car
I'm pretty darn sure the 10x larger full sized one does not do 550mph. 55 sounds about right for a track racer with a .16 engine. Have you ever raced?mitchg95 wrote:i have not cranked it yet... i am confused does it really do 55? im confused cuz it says scale speed of 55mph...

Re: first nitro car
My neighbor had something similar that was run to near death. It would keep up with traffic on the road near us that is 55mph...I bet people slowed down some, but they weren't stopping.

Please do not run RC cars on the street with traffic...you would feel real bad if a driver freaqued and had an accident injuring or killing someone. Not to mention the potential lawsuit you are probably not insured for

true, i have not had my big rc car running since i rebuilt it from the ground up and forgot to lock tite some of the screws in, so as a result they vibrated loose, then i crashed and cracked the crankcase in a couple spots
Ill drive my new car in the field by my house

Re: first nitro car
That scale speed can't be right.
Scale speed of 55mph on a 10th
Scale would be 5 and a half MPH.
I'd say if it's a warm 10th it'll
Be a true 55 mph.
Good luck Mitch, until you get used to
It, don't operate it near kerbs find
An empty supermarket car park.

thanks for the advice John, 55mph scale speed does not sound right to me at all
luckily the kerbs on the street that i live on are a little kinder to rc models because they are at a 45 degree angle rather than the standerd 90 degree angle kerb that is found in most places
There is an old king supers that has been closed for a while now, and the car should fit in my backpack so that makes for transportation easier for me because i have a car but no license and pretty much just travel by my mountain bike

How about the fact that they might run over your car? Back in the early seventies i got my first R/C car, it was a DIY, McCoy .19 plastic '66 vette 1/8 body, cool aluminum RaCar 5 spoke mags, with a Jerrobee(?) yellow brick Rx, i lived about three blocks from a large church, but thought i'd tool around in front of the street...wham!
heres a photo of the vette body, i found on ebay several years ago, i guess it was somewhat common set-up.

Re: first nitro car
Driving on the street with a buggy is not fun.
Disregarding the car problem the tires won't last very long with this power output.
BTW: nice Buggy with a very attractive price, don't know the brand, but over here something like this will cost about 280 bugs-

wow, those are the coolest rc cars
the #2 car is just beutifle to say the least, solid rubber tires would be cool on some of the modern stuff today. How did they do? i am used to the rubber tires with the foam inside

Re: first nitro car
I broke in the engine on my car today, and man does this thing go faster than 5.5mph haha. I was having fun with it in my front yard, and since we have the corner lot we have those (parden my french) damned fire hydrants and light poles that serve as great enemies for model cars. Long story short, i hit the hydrant and from the front lower right arm, shock, and bent the shock tower. I already checked for replacement parts, and they are cheap so i probably will order spare parts tomorrow so that i might be able to drive my car sometime next week

Re: first nitro car
I have a Veco .19 where the head fins are 90 degrees turned for a car application. But in your case they are the standard aero version.
