Hi all, I have a Cox Space bug .049 with a crankshaft clearance problem. The end play is ok but the crankshaft wobbles up and down in the case excessivly. It's like the engine was run on fuel without castor oil and wore out the bearing. I was wondering if a new main bearing bushing could be made, press fitted into the case and reamed to restore the proped clearance. Similar to repairing worn valve guides in a car engine. I guess we need to repair these old engines as the parts are becoming hard if not impossible to find. Any help on this would be appreciated! Huh...

Bushings I am sure are possible and wondered about it myself. I hope someone replies that has had experience on this. I would even try it on a newer motor to gain performance if that's a factor.

I've wondered about using Babbit material poured in hot like lead like they do on old time lathes.

Could the shaft be bent?
Maybe from a hard landing where the prop dug in.
