Black widow 8cc Non vented tank
Can anyone shed some light on a Black Widow that comes with a NON Vented 8 cc tank? This is supposed to be a new late model BW.

Re: Black widow 8cc Non vented tank
Does it look like this? Is the tank plastic?
This is a post 2000 Estes-Cox Black Widow. I don't recall when they first started using the plastic 8cc non-stunt tanks, I do believe it was around 1998-2000, I would have to dig into my notes. The only difference between a Estes Black Widow and a Estes Babe Bee is the cylinder and the spinner that came with the Black Widow.
Estes-Cox also sold #1995 8cc tank kits that people could buy to slap on a SureStart or other engines so if your black widow has the correct black case and cylinder, there is a chance that someone may have swapped the stunt tank on it. Besides the red Texaco tank, Cox did have non-stunt aluminum 8cc tanks but they were used on product engines and they were silver in color.
Matt and Bernie also has a line of engines and parts that include vented and non-vented anodized and non-anodized aluminum 8cc tanks.

Here is one NIB, you can even see a 4 stamped in the cylinder exhaust ports.

Re: Black widow 8cc Non vented tank
Toward the last, Cox Babe Bee, Texaco, and Black Widow shared the same tank. There may (should) have been a slightly larger intake for the BW but I am not sure. The only one that went through my hands was for my grandson and I did not look closely at it.

Good choice, RK. The Medallion is a superior engine. If ever you need more power from it, all it needs is a P/C swap.RK Flyer wrote:Thanks for the Info!!
