Mini Orkan 0.6cc
The Mini Orkan 0.6cc diesel engine. The three piece crank case was manufactured from bar stock and sand blasted. Only 5 of these engines were made. The cylinder and spinner were either plain or anodized in red. All engines have dual ball bearings and capable of exceeding 28000 plus rpm.
Technical Data Orkan 0.6 cc:
Bore 8.5 mm
Stroke 10.5 mm
Rpm 28,000 rpm
Weight 45 gram
Intake Disc Valve
and no, I haven't run it or flown it but I have fondled it, admired it, petted it, displayed it ...................

Impressive numbers! When and where was that engine made?

This does, quite a few diesels do - Oliver Tigers for example - but the majority don't.
I know a few combat flyers that introduced SPI to their diesels (by using a longer con rod) but they also reduced the venture size on the carb as they found it drew too much fuel.
There is some debate as to whether or not SPI and diesels is an improvement. I think that where it has been applied for top end performance it is a good idea but it can produce a temperamental engine.

It was made by Ronald Valentine in Florida. Not sure of the year but definitely pre 2000 and after 1984.

Ian.
You certainly come up with some incredible engines. 28,000 rpm is amazing for an undersquare engine.
I'm pretty sure most of my Taipan diesels have SPI.
Rod.

Nice engine.
It would have been great to hear it run, and to compare that to what must have been a roar from the 28cc Orkan!

When a diesel engine reach the 5cc mark, they became known as "finger biters". That is a "hand chopper". I would think twice about hand starting that. A kick back would be horrific!
