Larry Renger's everything you need to know about running COX engines
Check this out if you have not done it yet....very comprehensive read on the COX engine handling, care, repair etc. I was stunned to read here the life expectancy of a well treated COX engine may be 400 hours (my goodness gracious!!!) or more.

That Larry Renger guy sure knows his stuff. That was a very informative article. Thanks for the link. I know I have two new rules for running my 049's. #1 Keep the engine clean. #2 See rule #1.

Re: Larry Renger's everything you need to know about running COX engines
Thanks for sharing the article, balogh. I got around 100 hours on my reedies, but then I flew them again after crashing in dirt, had my share of lean runs, etc. I'd just flush out dirt with a quick shot of fuel and continue flying. One can't be bothered with details when on the run. Piston/cylinder matching sets were cheap then.

Admin you may want to add this link (above) to the INFO section on the left of this page, COX history or Instruction Sheets (at the bottom of Instructions, in " Other Sites With Manuals and Documents") ...very useful and took some time until I found it again. Thanks.

The site ( http://www.mccookfieldfac.com/helpful-info.htm ) doesn't seem to be loading for me right now, what about you?
Re: Larry Renger's everything you need to know about running COX engines
It does not open for me either but I have the pdf file. Do you want me to send it in a pm for you to post it? Or that is not the link but the pdf what you have posted on CEF?

Gents, I have the original article in pdf format just in case anyone is interested. Unfortunately I do not know how to post a pdf file on CEF, but if anyone is interested in reading the article again, please let me know how I should post it.

Sorry to bump this up, but the link is back down. Would anyone still happen to have this article? I thought I had it saved, but apparently not... I could really use it at this time. Thank you.
