My "38 Special"
I'm certainly not the best builder/finisher, but I thought I'd show-off a plane that I am very proud of. Some of you may have seen it 'elsewhere' ....
I'll probably never build a bi-plane again .... the wings were a real nuisance to get lined up. But with that said .... I really enjoyed building it, I adore flying it, and it looks great in the air. I'm always real careful with it .... no new stunt-learning with this one.
I completed it in March 2009 .... and the plane is relatively unchanged today. I do have trouble with the ultracote trim .... yup, it flies off at inopportune times.

Larry, that is one very nice looking plane. I really like the sunburst style on the wing tips.

That really is one to be proud of.
How do you like your Evolution? All of the venturis they come with are big. Some of the stunt guys, among other mods, are making smaller ones and getting really good results.

I really like the Evo .... I've got 3 of 'em. I use the medium venturi and either an OS or ST needle. Personally, I feel no need to make any other mods .... but I'm a sport flier. Alot of stunt guys seem to want to get this motor to 4-2-4 .... it's not designed for it, thus lots of mods. I just let her sing in a comfortable 2 around 9.5K .... they are really strong engines there.

Wow Larry, I really do like that whole presentation, your attention to detail is remarkable. I'm a sucker for Bipes and yes, setting up/aligning those wings can be a problem.

I have a LA .46 on mine. I have a real problem with the gear bending on landings. I want to get rid of that or bend my own using better grade aluminum. They certainly are attention grabbers. Ken

I did replace that soft landing gear ..... found some nice aluminum profile gear at a hobby shop in Orlando. They had 2 sets and bought them both. Haven't looked back since!!
