Wow - Glow fuel $52.94 a gallon
I ordered a gallon of 5% nitro, all castor at $13.49 a gallon, bargain I thought, shipping indicated was $9.95. Got the biil today and found an added $28.50 flammable item charge for total shipping of $38.45. Bothers me a bit that the additional charge was not mentioned. Total was $52.94.
I have bought fuel in quarts before without the additional charge. Just passing it along for your information.

Anything more than a quart container and there is a hazmat fee. Every fuel supplier is bound by this charge. Sorry you missed the fine print

Whomever he bought it from is not at fault .... other than maybe not being clear that there will be a higher billed charge.
The hazmat fee can be blamed on the EPA.

When I buy from Sig, I get 4 quarts at a time for $9.xx shipping. I like the quart bottles for use in the field. Until I started using 4 and 5 oz tanks, I liked the 16 oz milk bottles that have a molded seal in the screw-on cap. They fit easily in my box and don't leak. I toss them after a couple of refills.

If there was fine print I didn't see it. Went back and checked my original order and still didn't see it. Not a big deal, I needed the fuel. Hopefully others will see this and learn. I'm not trying to attach any blame here.

Yeah that Hazmat fee sucks bad, when i have to buy by the gallon i buy a case (4 gal's) the fee doesn't change, it's $29 for one and is still $29 for 4 so you are better off buying fuel by the case if you buy it in gallons. Other than that buy it 4 qt's at a time like what everyone else mentioned. Thats what I do too I buy sig fuel 4 qt at a time. (Bandit)

Check Out
Before your order is submitted you will be asked to enter the following information.
•Provide your name, address, contact details and a password to become a customer of SIG and receive a customer number.
•Nominate a method of payment if you do not have a prior arrangement with Sig.
SIG Shipping Policy •US Ground Shipments: The shipping and handling charge is $9.95 which is reduced to $0 when invoiced if the order is over $150. The USA shipping surcharge for large box items (noted on the order) will be added to the order total at the time of invoicing.
•International Shipments: The shipping and handling charge is $9.95, plus the actual postage amount.
•Gallon size containers of hazardous materials such as SIG fuel and Supercoat Dope products, will incur a $28.50 per carton "Hazmat Fee", which will be charged to the customer.
Continue
Right before they charge you , but that sucks that it wasn't on your payment bill ?

Yeah Eric, My bad, I don't now or then fault the vendor or the government for a hazmat fee. Some regulation is required to protect people from themselves.
Makes no sense though to transport four quarts vice a gallon in the same container, but it's the route that I will take next time. I have always bought quarts before on-line, but I noticed that the gallon size wasn't that much more and seemingly the shipping was the same.
It would have been nice though if the vendor had put a note beside the gallon size that an extra hazmat fee applies.
Live and learn.

Re: Wow - Glow fuel $52.94 a gallon
I just finished talking with the vendor. They did cancel my one gallon order prior to it being shipped.
I asked if they would ship me 4 quarts, but they don't package their high castor no nitro fuel in anything else but gallons. I guess I will have to find some local 5% nitro or less fuel and castor it up.

Plan accordingly on how much nitro you need ...
For instance, if you buy a gallon of 5% Nitro, with 18% oil .... and you need 28% oil ... you'll be adding approximately 4oz of castor per quart. This will reduce your nitro content to about 4.3% on each quart you mix up.
Generally, I buy 15%N/16%O ... and then bump it up with castor. I'd rather be high on nitro content, but thats just me.
Something to consider .....
