I am within that CG range.
I think I over control with a handle spaced for bigger planes.
I am used to longer tails, flaps, and slower speeds. And 60ft lines.
35ft lines are harder/faster in my getting older reflexes's.
My bucket list is full of fun.

R.E. Fixing needle valves. A remote needle is way better.
Just get/keep the spray bar good, and add the NV between the tank.
Somehow, I remember someone having a fine brass Cox NV, and yellow nyrod tube. (~1/8in dia.)
A heatgun, JB Weld and it worked.
Your results may vary.

Kirnkraft used to make a fine thread remote needle. It looked like just a brass tube soldered on to a basic needle valve. I have made some lately with the F2D combat type needles that I have machined, and soldered on a nipple with a hole drilled cross ways through the end. The end is tapped 4:40 to mount on something. When soldering it is a good practise to put a pin through the hole in the spray bar so it does not plug up.

For the TDs a sleeve can be made up that has a 1/4" ID tube that slips over the venturi, then a piece of 1/16" or 3/32" tubing soldered on for the flex tubing to the remote needle. This is one that I made when I was a kid 50 years ago. Yikes. Had to fit the tubing through the cowl of a speed plane that was a tight fit. For the Norvel or most other motors with a broken needle, all that needs to be done is remove the needle and solder it up. You can also richen it up a lot too, or make a spray bar that looks somewhat like a long pressure fitting if you have the machinery.

There are other options too. sometimes I screw in a plastic toothpick into the needle valve hole to just plug it up when the needle valve is missing and I just want to bench run it.

, I replaced it with a pressure fitting. I believe I turned a nozzle to go half way into the venturi hole, it also has a turbo plug head that I made up. The springy thing on the broken LA needle is just so it can still be used. I shortened the wire so it would not vibrate. Just a combat plane fix.

This is the springy thing. I have more pics but can't find them on the computer.
You may notice that the nipple broke off and was replaced with a pressure fitting.
Kind of a double redneck fix.

Hi aspeed,
Very nice Canadian solutions to a problem.
(breaking needle valves, replacing them)
Back in 'the 70s' , I snail mailed(no other choice) KirnKraft for one of their very fine(pun) needle valves for a TD.049.
2 months later, I found out it would cost more than a NIB TD here.
They were in very high demand.
I still have only pictures of one.

Many busted NVs later,
I think a spraybar on a TD,
Could be hooked up to a bladder tank.
With a fine NV in between.
Still working on it...

My backplate reedies are only 1000 RPMs behind, and run great.
My reflexes are not getting any better.

If I could learn to fly better...
I would not be breaking so many needle valves !

We used the 1/16" surgical tubing for the short run 1/2A speed planes years ago. Now the "Little Red Cap" is the way to go. It covers the end of caulking guns. They are fairly cheap and have less pressure than a regular bladder so the settings are easier. Backplate pressure is ok if there are absolutely no leaks. I was going to try the thin balloons from the dollar store that the clowns make the balloon animals with but never did it yet.
