Gifted Scientific "Kingpin" gets a Re-Fit
More small prep for S.M.A.L.L. !
When I was 14, I was given a Scientific "Kingpin" by my Uncle Wayne. Even with one of my anemic .049's pulling the plane, it was a little rocket on 30 feet of daycron. A couple of yard dart arrivals (following attempted loops), it was so damaged that I couldn't keep the firewall attached (these were our "Pre-Epoxy Days). Still, it lived on for a while after it's wing was converted to an .020-powered combat wing.
Recently, ANOTHER Kingpin was given to me, this time from fellow Breezy Hill Flyer Billy...complete with an installed PeeWee .020!! The tanked engine ran well, but I kept being bugged by the cute image of the Kingpin making inverted laps and 8's. So...with a PREVIOUSLY drilled tank, I built up another .020, dug a small wedge tank from the fuel tank box, and ran it's line to the PeeWee's fuel pick-up.
I didn't want yet another "dangling project"... ALMOST ready to go...and did all the engine test stand running, fuel tank fitting, and engine mounted/test-running. So, ALL it needs is the Spider Wire hooked up...that's where we're at!
Gonna start it out on 20' of Spider Wire, and go from there.
This one is for sure going to S.M.A.L.L., so be prepared to be wowed by it's sparkling performance...in an itty-bitty circle!

Hey Eric,
I only got the twenty minute runs when the Kingpin was tied down and getting fueled on the go. I just wanted to see it go for a while because short test runs have often hidden some mis-behavior that shows up when I'm trying to fly the thing.
Hope you get your kit !!!!!!!!!!
