All this talk of trains and USA 2020 has me thinking of my wife's Uncle Johnny.  He was a Marine and served in the Pacific during WW2.  When he came home, he bought a Pete (Peterbilt truck) and started hauling freight.  I married my wife Gaybeth in '77 and joined the Army. Because we were putting a lot of miles on traveling to home and back to Ft. Hood he gave me a CB radio and told me to drive at night and hook up with truckers.  Only stop to eat where there's trucks parked, and only stay at places that have parking for trucks he instructed me.  He also told me that if you ever want to know where the economy is headed, ask a trucker.  They're the first to know. Rules I follow to this day.  Except driving at night.

Everything you own was carried in a truck at one point or another.

Here's three of my favorite trucker songs.  Here's to you Uncle Johnny.

Love all those songs. As well, as the original 'Convoy'. Good, real music.

Love it! Makes me miss the old 76 truck stops. Best coffee in the world.

My favorite, probably everyone's favorite Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen song -
