os wankel?
hello
after a long long time away I am gonna try to come back with a bang
Here is the engine for my next project
yes its a 2nd generation os wankel
and yes it does have recoil starter (as far as I know there are only 2 in the world that have this)
It is not fully finished for I am still waiting for the parts for a custom flywheel
I am building a wankel powered rc car

Re: os wankel?
I worked on Sachs Wankels back when they were used in snowmobiles. Not fast, but gobs of torque! Love that sound! Parts for those are now pretty much nonexistant! Can't imagine finding parts for a wee one!

Re: os wankel?
that is kind of easy
the complete engines are expencive and not that common
but the parts are easy to find
well part i have to say
the only part that wears are the apex seal springs
they tend to get weak from the engine heat and then you cant start because of the lack of compression
the apex seals hardly wear
the engine chamber is made of hardened steal
and the rotor does not wear because it float on the oil in the fuel
if you want i can disasembe one of my engines so you can see the insides
might even make a video about it

Re: os wankel?
that was the original plan
to use a 1:10 rc car because i can get a rx-7 FB body for it
but 1:10 is to small for this engine
without a recoil starter it would be posible but not with the recoil
so i setteled on a protech promax frame (1:6 according to the box but its a streched 1:10 or a normal 1:
and i cant find a rx-7 body for that scale (weelbase of 400mm)
and i also want the 2 speed kit for it because mine is a gen 1 and it didnt come with it

Re: os wankel?
I guess a similar British term would be "Tosser". Wanker (in the right company) is pretty common down under. I suppose the American equivalent would be calling someone a "Jerk-off". (Hope I cause no offence ).
Interesting fact- In Australia, we have a Mitsubishi Pajero. In the States it's called the Montero, apparently because Pajero, in Hispanic, means Wanker. They didn't think that would be the best marketing approach where there was a large Hispanic culture.

Re: os wankel?
os made many engines with recoil
but never a wankel
I asked a buddy of mine (he has a lathe) to make it for me
and he used the video of jhonny Q90 as an example
that is why I said mine is the 2nd in the world with recoil starter
but never a wankel

Re: os wankel?
only of the type 3 wankel
type 1 wankel manuals cant be found and type 2 are common
yes I know type 3 is called type II os was weird by making 3 versions and not naming them in order
the diverence between type 2 and 3 is a better intake on type 3
type 3 runs a bit cooler
and type 3 uses hex bolts instead of philips (I also use hex becasue there nicer)
BUT!
type 3 has a bit less power then the type 2
