Finished DNU today, finally
I finally finishede my DNU. It probably took me over six months. It was a great build. I do not know when I will maiden it but I am looking forward to it. All up weight minus fuel is 14.2 ounces. It has a built up Cox reedie. It is aileron and elevator with a Spektrum radio, a 300 mah 7.4V lipo with a CC BEC.

Nice work, Bob, I love the markings. Looks like a pressure tap on the crankcase. And a check valve?

It looks great, Bob. The DNU is almost turning into a classic for the small plane crowd. Now, don't make us wait another 6 months for the maiden!!!

I have the plans in PDF if you're interested. Can't post PDFs here, but I can email them if you like.

Here is a nice little regulator I have used in the past Bob. Very compact and lightweight, no cutoff, for 6v rated servos, 5 amps continuous, HD switch.

PV,
Thanks for the heads up on the Losi BEC. I have a few of those already including one I use in my currently flyable Hummer. So far I have really liked it.

Re: Finished DNU today, finally
Finally flew it. I replaced the lipo set up with a nicad set up from SR. All else was the same. It was the first time I have flown in about six months. Long story short- it flew great! I think a switch to a 6X2 or 6X3 prop might help make it more of a sport plane. With this engine and prop it is very fast. The vertical was really good but not unlimited. I never put it on high rates and still had plenty of quick control authority. It is a gereat airplane and I am looking forward to lots of fun flights with it.

Super, Bob. Glad to hear the maiden went well.
Very likely the 6x2 will slow it down a bit and it might give you a little better vertical performance. I've flown quite a bit with a MA 6x3, but it's a load. I generally get better overall performance with a 5x3 or 5.5x3, but on a NORVEL .061 which runs better if allowed to turn up.
