Trying to fit in

Re: Trying to fit in
Looks right at home with those tri motors Bob…. Great way to display an engine…I think it would be a real handful even with an .010 if it were to try to fly…. Would be fun to try though!!! Mine’s about done too…. Just needs finishing touches…. Been sidetracked by nitro lately …..I’ll post it on the other thread for too long

Agreed, too hot to handle, but I would like to see Ken or Kim try. I don't think the original was ever flown, could be wrong though.
More perspective. Little even when compared with the Testor's Fly-ems.
I could never hand trace those wing leading edge silver lines, so masking it is. Still thinking hard about your stencils. I like the idea of fogging them from 18 to 24 inches away, I would hold down with small washers, but wonder how wetting one and patting it dry then apply slighty moist and sticky to the wing would work.
I'm not a NASCAR fan, more like formular one but I always remember Richard Petty's comment "It's all ate up with engine" when commenting about his race car. Applies to the S/L too.

You bet, I would vote for an experienced CL’r to give it a try…. If it ever got airborne it would be a rocket!!
Sure, nothing wrong to experiment with the stencils, You have a few to play with… If you try to hold it down with water you might add a few drops of liquid soap to help position and stick…. You can try it on a test board first… When the tissue starts drying it will shrink and wrinkle but can be carefully ironed flat again…The weight method is a little tedious but takes care of loose edges…. Here’s mine right before paint..

Very close Robert.

Thanks Chancey, but it looks a little like a flying pot belly next to those slender tri-motors.
Gives it a complex.
I might make a major change to the original builders plans. Both upper and lower wings are 4" chords but the elevator adds width to the lower wing throwing everything out of proportion. So I'm thinking of adding ailerons and flaps fixed along the plane of the wing. But I would love to droop the flaps like on the .020 Tri.
It's not really all that sparkley, the flash catches the aluminum paint and amplifies it.
