Yesterday's events.
Guys,
I made a post about seller about an ebay seller last week (emo2) since he lives close to me. I decided to head up to his place and check out his stuff. All I can say is I am glad I did.
He has dozens of Vintage engines and balsa models. Come to find out he was really into FF back in the early 60's in California. We talked of planes and modeling, desert motorcycle racing, car racing.....etc.
He is a big Johnson/Super Tiger fan but, he also had Atwoods, AP wasps, Cox, Holland hornets and more.
Long story short after a day of visiting and just as I am about to leave he hands me a .051 TD,.020 TD, Pee Wee and a Holland Hornet .049. He said "put them to use"
Very interesting guy and his whole collection will be hitting Ebay. He is saving for a tractor. He has a lot of 50's 60's engines and kit's you won't be dissapointed. I was so overwhelmed I forgot to take pictures.
I had a great day.......

Great Deal....a "Win-Win" !! Lots of these guys just want to know that their hardware will be cherished and this probably helped him insure that some of his gems went to an appreciative owner !!!!!!!!

In you story Ron lies a fundamenta lesson that I have often found true. Making personal contact with former modelers not only makes friends but yields rewards.
Good for both of you!

Kim,
I bet you that is exactly what he was thinking. You should have seen all the photo's and trophys. Very interesting info about early FF modeling.
Dave,
Very true! I met him years back when I was restoring my '66 Honda Scrambler (CL77) Kim would have enjoyed seeing all those Superhawks! I had no idea he was even into modeling at one time. I have received many things through "networking" and made some friends in the process.
Good guy and generous. I had a super day!

Ron:
re: friends
Can anyone have too many? I find face-to-face associations best with e-mail a distant second with so many elements of conversion missing as has so often time been lamented. And the same is true of relatives within our own familly.
I make it a point at Christmas time to land-line those that I haven't seen in some time. If I make contact the experience is very often rich and rewarding. The downside is that ocassionaly I find that one of them has passed. Personally, I'd much rather receive personal call than a Christmas card.
It's far too easy to to let personal contacts slip away in the rush of lfe. I'm making very effort to prevent that from happening.
