Engine runs

Engine runs
Thanks for all the suggestions. Did some cleaning on the engine, it now runs. Next step is to see if I can fly the plane.

Re: Engine runs
Good work. Find some nice soft tall grass to fly it over. Has it been a long time since you've flown?

Hmmm, I've only ever seen one person who flew a control line plane the first time without plowing it into the ground at a high speed. He had the reflexes of a 14 year old because, well... he is 14. And I have never seen a plastic model crash without busting up with some serious damage. So if you're interested in spending a week building a simple easy to fly virtually indestructible trainer, we can show you how, and help you get past the ground-pounding stage of training before you slag your Cox model.Bob Bozwell wrote:Never have flown any type of plane. 1st for me.
We'll be glad to pitch in with links, pictures and whatever helps get you trained up... if you're interested.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of plane do you have?

OK I'll bite. What's a trainer tl?
Or, more specifically, what's a "tl"?

Cox 119 trainer, tight line. I am guessing about 60 years old.

Bob, if it is in good condition there are folks who would pay good bucks for that plane and engine. With that in mind, perhaps a balsa trainer would be appropriate so you could later have your old one to fly and enjoy. The plastic may be brittle and break easily. Parts are scarce for them.
Good luck whatever you decide.

+1 to what George said.
Here is a great site with a lot of nice 1/2A models. Mostly combat.
