Cox Engine of The Month
Great learning day today.
Great learning day today.
I got an opportunity to test fly the stealth sport with the bigger Norvel tank/mount and to try something new with it.
First, I have to say a big THANK YOU! to Ken again. After hearing the ArmorAll in the fuel trick from him I decided to give it a try and it worked beautifully. I ran one full tank through with a Tee Dee then three full tanks with a Norvel. Since I have been having fuel draw issues with tanked engines and tank mounted engines while using engines that were known good runners I thought that perhaps fuel foaming was the issue. I guess it was.
Second, since it is so humid here and I use denatured alcohol to clean my engines I also oil the engines mercilessly after cleaning. Lately I have been blowing a lot of plugs on the first start up for an engine. It finally hit me (it often takes me several tries to figure things out) that all the oil was the same as flooding the engine and causing the plug to blow. Now I remove the plug and flip the prop through before starting the engine.
Finally, if you buy cheap electronics on ebay don't count on them working the same every time. I thought I was recording all four of my flights but apparently I only took four still pics while turning the DVR on. Hopefully, I will be able to get out again and get some videos.
You guys have a great weekend,
Bob

Re: Great learning day today.
Bob, I can't take credit for the innovative idea of that little trick. I learned it from my club members. One to two squirts per gallon is usually all we use and it's become a prerequisite on new gallon containers. I'm sure a bit more isn't going to hurt, but I found just by shaking it, you can see the difference. it's actually amazing. Ken

Re: Great learning day today.
I did the shake test before I used the fuel and was surprised at how effectively it worked.
Thanks again,
Bob
