Venom or not?
Re: Venom or not?
Looks like a clone, if it is even that. The piece that gives it away is the brass spraybar. We used those for sometime (as well as Bernie) when assembling the backplates. The OEM Cox ones were a ledloy steel. The cylinder also looks like a modified one, although it is hard to tell definitively from the photo.

I would go with Matt on this one. The cylinder does not look right, looks like the exhaust ports are a little narrower than a real venom. The brass spraybar also stands out. The anodizing on the case looks to have more of a matte finish than the original shiny anodizing. I can't quite see it that clear but the driveplate looks to have that sharp edge that you get from rounding over a hex plate.

That would be your best bet. I agree that the cylinder looks like a modified Sure Start one whereas the middle bar was cut out.
If it is a clone it could be good, but I wouldn't spend over $50 if it is used considering we sell this high performance engine for $75 new

Re: Venom or not?
Personally I would not buy one (for big money) unless I could hold it in my hands and closely examine it along with the original box and instruction sheet. It is way too easy to clone one that is undetectible especially on an auction site.
I once cloned one so good that I had to mount a prop on mine to keep my friend from confusing it with his 100% legit Venom !!
Buyer Beware !!!
