Correct Parts?

Correct Parts?
Was there ever an engine like this from the factory? Product engine maybe? It has the early case with the tapered nose section and a white back plate. The only engines I've seen with this style back plate are the straight nose cases. I put this together with an early case, NOS #3 cylinder, NOS "W" head and white back plate. I'm just wondering if I should use an early Thimble Drome tank instead to make it look correct.

Re: Correct Parts?
It is hard to say for sure if it was an actual Cox configuration, as Cox had the habit of 'using whatever was on hand' when building engines. The parts look to all be from the same era, but there are many in here who may notice a nuance to say definitively, one way or the other.

I have one of those with an aluminum needle. Otherwise identical. I am pretty sure mine came off a PT-19.

Re: Correct Parts?
That engine should be product engine # 191-5 from 1997, missing the exhaust screen.
