OK Cub heads

OK Cub heads
I seem to have purchased an OK Cub 099 with a shrunken head. It looked good in the ebay listing. When it arrived it was dry with not much compression. I took the plug out to drop some oil in the cylinder. When I tightened the plug the whole head turned and popped out.
The head is smaller than the cylinder, but not by much. There is enough interference so it sort of grabs on the last thread. The head can be pushed straight down into the threaded cylinder opening; just the edges of the threads touch. The threads on the head and inside of the cylinder look fine and not stripped or worn. Could I have an 074 head on a 099? Does anyone know if the 074 and 099 are very close in size?

Re: OK Cub heads
No they are not "close in size".
Sounds like you have the wrong cylinder head for the engine.
Edit: I'd have to see it to be sure.

Re: OK Cub heads
Thanks for the replies. It seems a certainty that the head is off an 074. I contacted the seller, who is a well-known engine parts guy. He is providing (selling) me another 099 from which I can take the head to get one good engine. If this engine arrives and the head does not fit it's back to square one.

Jim:
Hope the replacement head works for you.
Although I have a nice OK Cub .049B it is an orphan among my family of Coxes which have far greater parts and support readilly available.
Mark Boesen here on the forum is our "go to guy" for OK Cub matters. Mark has helped me and I appreciate his assistance.
