Has anyone been having trouble with this forum not going to your first unread post when you click "New Posts since last visit" or after you submit a new post? Every time I do that I still have to scroll to the bottom. This started a couple of days ago. Maybe my cookie settings got hosed for CEF. The other forums work okay.

I haven't noticed anything. Did you delete your forum cookies yet?

So is this only in the "Off Topic" forum or in all the forums? And you are clicking the "View posts since last visit" link on the top of the forum? It still seems to work fine for me.

What I noticed is when I click on one of the "latest topics" it used to open the page on the last post. In the last few days it now opens half way down the last page and you have scroll down to the last post. No biggie but I did notice the change. I clear my cookies daily, don't care much for cookies.

I've been having trouble with this also, but thought it was on my end. It use to go to the last post on a thread that I'd read, now it seems to be stuck on the same post in a thread.

While were on the subject of forum issues, I've noticed that those who have posted their ages never seem to get any older. Smile

Is that good or bad thing? Huh...

Hey if it stops me from getting older, I'll spend more time here. That's a good thing. But it seems most of the above are having the same symptom as I am. It happens in all forum areas at CEF. I clicked on Jacob's "Clear Forum Cookies" link, so I'll report back later if that worked. I have not tried IE9 or any other browsers, just Firefox 25.0.1.

Okay, I see what you mean. I can try to resynchronize the forum, see if that clears up any of the bugs.

"Hey if it stops me from getting older, I'll spend more time here."  - Rusty

If that's what brings you here Rusty, fine but it CAN be deceptive to CEF new-comers.

Just a thought and I have a LOT of time to think.  That gets me into trouble at times though.  Very Happy

It might be more helpful to post one's modeling experience level on one through five scale:  I.E.: none, limited, moderate, advanced and extensive (or some such words). This would allow us to repond to posts on an approrite level.

Sure this is the purpose of the "Introductions" thread but, then again, how many posters introduce themselves?  I'd say less that a third.

Dave,

I don't know, I kind of like folks knowledge to speak for itself. If a person is a good modeler then it will eventually shine through.

A rating scale like you suggested would only allow a person to rate oneself and sometimes we tend to think we are better than we actually are.

Right now we have a reputation system that allows others to rate such things. That way it is un-biased feedback.

Haha, I just checked to see if I introduced myself on 8/20/2011. I am the second ever after Dave. I think the forum had been around a while before Jacob added the Intro forum.

So Rusty if the forum has been "Around for a while" why hasn't the Introductios thread been used more often?Shyness, apathy, self-deprication, desire to remain anonymous..................

It'd be like being invited to a party of strangers and failing to introduce one's self What would be gained?

Timely introductions allow the opportunity to mix rather than remain a "wallflower' sitting silently along. Why else would one come to the party? (The free beer and snacks?) Very Happy

Figuratively this forum is no different.

I don't know. I used to have an invitation and a link in my signature for new members to post. When people make their first post we should briefly and politely invite them to do so, and post a link to the intros.

BTW, the forum seems to be working fine now for me.

Yeah, he's coming home, so if the weather is okay we'll try to fly. Either some screamers in the churchyard or take the big ones out to the fort. He's never flown a big one and wanted to try the Shoestring at Huntersville, but we got sidetracked and never did. He'll probably stay for the weekend.
