Stunt-Stang, Parts of a Twister..
This plane came into being because of the parts that remained after building a Fancherized Twister, using the SIG kit as the starting point. Per the Fancher version, new tail pieces are fabricated-leaving the kit's parts to gather dust. Not so, here!
I decided the stab, elevators, fin and rudder were similar enough to a P-51 Mustang, to go ahead and build one. With just a little contour sanding, they DO look like a P-51!
The wing is simplified, to not have the L.E. cuffs at the root, and the airfoil is from the Bob Palmer POW WOW, that I built late last year. I had to fudge a little, to make it taper in two directions and thinner-from root to tip. Wingspan is 43-1/2 inches. It's about the same size as a Ringmaster, with a better airfoil.
This is intended to perform as a stunt plane, but will have "Miss America's" racing colors for trim. Not Purple. Power will be a Fox 35, that runs very well.
When the weather shapes up, this baby will fly!

You are a machine Doug. I would hate to run against you in a build off.
Looks good man! Fun is in your future!

Hey Doug,
Looking forward to seeing this completed, I don't know if its because the 'stang is one of my favorites, or my love for the Miss America (Cox version) or lol, that there's no purple!

Hey! There's no purple on it, yet! I might slip-up, and go with a nice scheme for purple, that I've been thinking about. It would lay-out really well on a Mustang! Watch it, buddy! Ha ha!
No, this will be Miss America. I've wanted one since the 1970s, when I first saw the racing version. My what's-it planes can be purple, but if it is a scale model, or stand way-off scale, it gets a paint scheme like the real one. I don't recall ever having seen a purple Mustang. But if there ever is...

Yuck! Now that's just gay. Also, it looks pink.
My purple is tastefully done, not gaudy!

I agree, thought it was funny though. I hope you are not offended. Yours do look good.

This is a real one. I think it's a Reno racer.

We were just playing around. In the end the decision is yours. I have to say I like the Miss America scheme the best. Reminds me of Evel Knievel

I am 100% impressed. Now I want one like it. But what I really want is to learn speed-building like you have perfected. The first thing I need to do is to make a balsa stripper. I'm on it!

It does well flying. I think I hit the proportions just right! The take-off is great, landings are a breeze, and it penetrates the wind well, too. It looks cool in the air, also.
