Re: ANOTHER, HOBBY SHOP GOING
hopeful burn it in some engines I am thinking I will have to add some castor if I run it in 049s since it is total synthetic ..He said it was for airplane engines !?RknRusty wrote:That's sad for us but happy for them.

Unless the oil content is very low, you are going to have to add so much castor that it will turn it into syrup.

That pretty much sums it up.Cribbs74 wrote:Unless the oil content is very low, you are going to have to add so much castor that it will turn it into syrup.
The Cool Power is 17% synthetic/0% castor. You will have to add 26.2 ounces of castor to balance out to 17% synth/17% castor(50/50 oil). Your total oil content will then be 31.1% oil, and the nitro will drop to 20.8%. That's too much castor to be using drugstore stuff, so you'll need to buy a quart of Klotz or some similar racing oil. Maybe they'll let you return it if you give them that information. It just ain't a viable product for Cox engines.

Re: ANOTHER, HOBBY SHOP GOING
I have some Tornadoes including some pushers that I had promised JPvelo and Dinsdale I would send and never did. I'll get that bag out and take a pic of what I have and keep the promise I've so far broken.rat9000 wrote:Is there any where to find tornado or powerflite props, tks for a .049
Tell me, what's so special about Tornado props?

To me the tornados and topflites look to made from nylon whereas the props I'm getting online seem to be more of a plastic (softer) Turning those type of rpms could cause a more flexible prop to flatten out, thats just my thinking.

Re: ANOTHER, HOBBY SHOP GOING
Softer props do flex and de-pitch under load. My Tornadoes are super soft. Softer than Cox rubber duckys. When I get all this upcoming flying business behind me, I'll get that sack of Tornadoes out and make good on my ancient promises.

Re: ANOTHER, HOBBY SHOP GOING
You got some good stuff there but its too bad you're loosing a good hobby shop...
Re: ANOTHER, HOBBY SHOP GOING
Looks like you got over $200.00 worth of stuff. Yea... it's bittersweet to get the great deals knowing there won't be any more there again. Maybe you can stay in touch with the 1/2A guy and do some flying together? I wish I had someone interested in 1/2A around here.
