Wow! You are right, TOP SHELF, all great stuff. That is a super looking shelf with a bumper to keep 'em from rolling off and still get a 3D view.

Thanks guys,
That might be paint Ron.

Added the Roy Cox "Specials" (top shelf) yesterday. One a wind-up. I had never seen these before I got interested.

Interesting over-spray pattern. different colors, different cars, same pattern.

Some of your decal designs are present there Levent.

Seller just described it as a nice car that is rare. His picture.

Dannels/Sitter devotes two pages to it:

Somehow I wound up with all the major variations. Not intended, unconscious on my part. I seem to work better that way.
The real early ones (extreme left) don't have the shifter, or is it the brake. Some have the tether hole extensions (wind-up and .045) some don't. Others are the wind-up and .045. All had the same basic body casting.

I dunno.
I have been watching Midget racing videos trying to catch the driver using it. Might be a brake, looks like they ran them flat out. Looks like fun. Wish I was 60 years younger.

Notice the lever is placed different on the two cars.

Thanks Lieven, clears up a question that I have been asking for some time.
Automobile Quarterly, sold my entire collection when we moved from Florida to West Virginia. Lot's of weight I didn't have to ship, but I miss them.

I agree totally with Eric on the cleanliness under there! But to be fair, knowing they are yours, it was to be expected.

Thanks Eric and Chancey, but you give me to much credit.
The .045 was pretty clean when I got it, unusual for me as I generally buy gobs of castor goo. I just cleaned the exterior and lightly at that. The other "Special's" too were clean when I got them, didn't even have to wipe them off. Not complaining though.

Added another today, non Cox Lotus by Testors. Cheapest decent one on ebay, but I still made an offer and after a back and forth the seller accepted it.

I have had these for years and never took an interest in them. Finally, looking for something to flesh out the new shelves I got them from the loft. The white one is Testors, the yellow Wen Mac, identical except the logos cast into the bottoms and the decals. White one pretty much smashed, held together by masking tape, yellow one not too bad, but both missing the trumpet exhaust. Seems the Wen Mac's came with a driver and the Testor's do not.

Cleaned the white ones motor in parts cleaner, came out beautiful. Held together by rubber bands until I can reglue the six mounting posts, four engine/suspension, two body. Had to replace all the fuel tanks vent/fuel nipples. Soaked the body in hot soapy water for hours to remove the masking tape (about six yards) then Goo-Gone to remove the sticky. Work in progress.

Truly amazing job there, and the dedication even moreso. Thanks again for taking us along on your adventures or restorations, as I can say safely for myself, and probably many others, truly enjoy them.

Re: Top shelf.............
Hey Bob!! Great new thread. WenMac/Testors race cars. You've found the weak spot in the exhaust trumpet, gone the first time it gets dropped, then ya break off the nerf bars trying to pick it up. And the fuel tank nipples are not designed to last long either. Even thou I used my favorite method of heating up the screws with the tip of a soldering gun before trying to remove them from the castor coated bodys the "towers" and they still break off exactly as shown in your pictures. They sure look great,if you don't play with them, if you do run 'em ya end up wraping the whole thing with whatever tape Dad had in the junk drawer. 1' masking tape was the "duct-tape" of the day, until duct-tape was invented!
Keep us posted on your clean up and rebuild of the screw towers, I'll follow your footsteps in repairing mine.
