New purchase ; Bushmaster 3 in 1

New purchase ; Bushmaster 3 in 1
A new purchase a few weeks ago.
This is as received; the plane needs a serious cleaning. There are more dust we can't see on pictures
It looks like it never flew.
The engine looks seized; easy to repair.
The box cover is included but damaged and is currently under repair.
Do you think this model is rare?
And desirable?
To be followed, I'll get back to you

They appear to have ben produced one year 1973-1974 http://www.mh-aerotools.de/airfoils/cox_frameset.htm I think that would make them pretty rare in it self Not any on eBay but worth point has >> https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-cox-bushmaster-gas-powered-52817220 Nice looking plane

Yes. It is vey rare, just one year made.
I was very lucky to find one at a relatively reasonable price.

Very nicely done!
I keep having visions of someone standing knee deep in water while flying off floats and trying not too sink into the mud.

It's the time I put into it, a lot. And the money a little too.
And I will have several other models to show you, another time.
My collection must be more than 60 Cox, Testors, Wen Mac, keil Kraft

I Found one!
I'm ecstatic! I found a brand new, never flown / never seen fuel example. The box is not complete but what matters is all there. The floats, the wheels, the skis, the whole shebang in new, never used condition. The price was fair but not cheap. Considering the condition and rarity I just had to get it. You can see on the pictures. Perfectly clear plastic windshield / perfect stickers, the fuel line looks new. The Piston shows no trace of castor / fuel at all and it's free turning with good compression.
Reasons for getting it:
1) I would have given my left nut for this plane when I as a kid.
2) My friend and I flew our planes in his backyard about 10 yards away from the lake back in Canada. The bottom of the lake was smooth and shallow near shore, and super progressive slope to deeper levels. That would have worked perfectly. We went to lake cottage in the winter as well, I could have flown it off the frozen lake's surface.
3) My (Cool) uncle was a bush pilot for part of his business. He had a (Real) Cessna 185 with a Robertson Stol kit and floats in the summer / skis with hydraulic retractable wheels in the winter. He used to fly to our lake house with the Cessna both in the summer and winter. It was red too.
Obviously, a Cessna 185 is a different bush plane than a Cub and far from "Identical" but close enough.
So, a red float plane like my uncle's as a Cox model. Unbelievable.

Nice find and thankfully it had been properly stored, no hot attic etc.
It's a treasure.

Nice!
I got one for Christmas in '75 (I think). It's somewhere in my parent's house. Still looking for it...

Lol. I plan to. Every time I pull up to Dad's I can hear the theme from Sanford and Son playing in the background...
I do remember breaking one of the skis on some iced over snow. I attached the skis to the wheels after that. I also dunked it in the lake once. It flushed out and ran fine after. It should still be in the box with the instructions.
Cheers,
J~
