Re: And yet EVEN MORE B.O.T. Torture !!!
Do you know why they call it 4 stroke? Is it the way it sounds, just because it's hitting on more or less every other stroke? Not technically correct, maybe I'll think up a new word for it and spread it all over the forums, then... the World! Hopefully it will get farther than "Pylinder" anyway.

Don't really have a clue. It's just one of those things that I've been saying for so long, it origin has been lost. I used to call a REALLY rich engine a "Gurgler", which I believe to be a fairly accurate description! If you decide on a specific term, I'll be happy to repeat it to the point that I'm physically threatened to stop repeating it !
Also, my Airplane Nerd O.C.D. requires me to make a correction that nobody really cares about: In an earlier post here, I said that I'd never flown the B.O.T. with it's Black Widow packing a "Flip" camera. Well of course, immediately after saying that, I stumbled onto this photo of it getting ready to do just that, as it waits for it's launch over yonder cattle lot!
Ah...now I feel better...confession that you're getting senile is good for the soul!

It's called 4 stroking because that's exactly what it does. It's only firing on every 2nd compression stroke. The mixture is too rich to fire the first time. Some of it is flushed out on the exhaust stroke. Next time hopefully it does fire. If you keep on going richer then it never clears out enough, the fire goes out altogether and you glide home - in a perfect world . I s'pose it might even 6 or 8 stroke, but I'd rather think that you'd need quite a decent flywheel to keep it going like that.RknRusty wrote:Do you know why they call it 4 stroke? Well, there we go ! "Four-Stroke" sounds a lot more technical than "Gurgling", so now I can stay with it!

The Aliens are working overtime!
I just hope we don't get a video entitled "B.O.T being struck by lightning!" (But I suppose there wouldn't be a video available after that!)

Yeah ! Me too ! Of course, that would still be better (maybe) than a video from the B.O.T. titled: "B.O.T.'s Pilot Struck by Lightning" !!! Now that WOULD go Viral !!!!

Yep...and I'm gradually heading there...although, I AM a firm believer in the theory that "If lightning wants you, lightning will get you"!
A local restaurant, named "Cheeko's", over in Illinois, sits next to a 150 foot metal tower. A couple of years ago, a lightning bolt, totally ignoring the tower, came down and blew the "k" right off the sign on the roof !!!

It's true but still walking out in a storm with a 4' long metal rod is tempting fate

Just be sure that the camera is pointing down at you at the crucial moment!
(I always classed you as a bright spark, Kim!)
