Show us your ugly! Your ugliest model that still flies.
Here's my entry, my infamous old Stuntman23.
Y'all have seen it before. It's been crashed on hard packed low-tide beach sand, in the ocean, on concrete and many times into the grass.
It has become my experimental test plane. It's covered with artifacts of past experiments with engine mountings, firewalls, fuel tanks... also repairs; a red stripe is all that keeps one wing from flying apart, the rudder is epoxied on with brown epoxy and sawdust and it has an obvious vertical split too. The clear canopy and pilot head are broken off and slathered with epoxy to keep fuel out. The wingtips weren't always rounded on the LE corners at all like that, screw holes from several early bladder containers and wedge tank supports, weights zip-tied and screwed under the front end, and not the least of all is the ugly fiberglass wrap where I cut the middle of the fuse out because it was made of mostly glue and splints(best thing I ever did to it).
It's powered by a Fit90 Tee Dee .049 with a bored venturi, a Texas Timers bladder and NVA system, and it hauls ass in any direction I point it. Beat that suckers!
I never did figure out why it turned down and dove in like that. The lines were tight and there was just enough room to make it.

That is pretty bad my friend......pretty bad. I think it's cool it still flies though. How well does it glide when the engine quits?

Judging by how many times he's had to repair itcribbs74 wrote:That is pretty bad my friend......pretty bad. I think it's cool it still flies though. How well does it glide when the engine quits?

If you roll back the video to 1:25 you will be able to see that the shooter was obviously in the yellow SUV.

LOL!

Y'all are so funny. When I run it out of gas, it glides pretty flat but it sinks fast. I get an acceptable percentage of rolling landings. Those big foam tires help it roll in the grass. The repairs usually follow full power landings at a steeper than recommended inclination.nitroairplane wrote:Judging by how many times he's had to repair itcribbs74 wrote:That is pretty bad my friend......pretty bad. That's it, I couldn't hear the gunshot over the engine. Or else the control rod flexed. I have braced it since then, but I'm still not sure that was it. I should have started that loop higher anyway.

Thanks for showing us your ugly, Bob. I was beginning to worry I was the only one with a scarred up old beater. Like yours, my Stuntman has been my go-to plane for a good while. Some of those old clunkers just refuse to die.

Here is my hammered turd. Survived a tail crushing in 1977, 35 yrs of being knocked around over countless moves. Also survived my flight training and now my son has taken his initial flight with it. 3 generations of abuse.
It's prob my fave due to sentimental reasons only, as it flies like crap!

A friend of mine work asked if I would take he and his son flying so I will be putting this eyesore back in the air.

Cool, I knew there had to be some serious ugliness out there.
