yes great views from th peak it looks almost as if the clouds in the valley are a large grey lake.

Rock'n Rusty:
Yes Rainier is a dormanant volcano and it is less than 100 miles from Mt. St. Helens. (Remember the '80 erruption of Mt. St. Helens?) I sure do cuz I was less than 50 miles from it when it errupted.
Rather than wait in fear for Rainier to erupt I'll just enjoy it while I can.

In Washington (state) it RAINS 24/7 and those of us that live here absoultly HATE the scenery. And ,OH, the winter snow conditions in those mountain passes! Dreadful!
You guys that want to move here should go to Arco, Idaho were in never rains and is toasty warm especially in the summer months. For info contact the Arco Chamber of Commerce (if Arco has one).

Hazardous mountain conditions are only "blissful" if one is prepared to deal with them. Paradise Lodge on Mt. Rainier, WA holds the national record for snow depth every year since record have ben kept very often exceeding ten feet accumulated.
Oh, I'm sorry, that's just another reason NOT to move to Washington!

True but I just love the snow but I suppose if i was surrounded by it day in day out I may get sick of it.
I do hate driving up mountains!
Re: Have you heard....Planet nibiru
Our AWD Ford Freestar van often requires tire chains in the mountain passes of Washington or even to get up the drive to our mountain cabin.
BTW, Washington has three distinct regions each with it's own characteristics. (Western, Central and Eastern) We're called "The Evergreen State" but that is not true of the Central region which is drier and desert-like.

once
I was to Co. once, saw the sun rise over the rockies and then I had to leave before my roots grew there , yes, i liked it that much.
Aspen was a trip to board there, liked the long runs compared to my native slopes.
I really would like to hit Pikes Peak race just once before I get too old to race anymore, looks like a blast from what I have seen on video`s............I just would have to remember to sight-see after the race, not during;lots of sheer faced long drops on that race.
