Oh Golldangitydagnabbit!
I just got back in from a trip up to Fayetteville, NC to visit my son at his new home, and celebrate Holley's and my 31st anniversary. Sat down at my computer and the darn display is dead. Either that or the video card... built into the motherboard, of course.
Now I'm typing on this little XP Eee-PC Netbook with a 10" screen. But it's better than a phone. I suppose I'll have to borrow a monitor from a PC shop to see if that's really the problem.

Re: Oh Golldangitydagnabbit!
Well, that blows. Too much CEF is what happened. That I am sure of
Looks like someone thought they should compound the issue by giving you a bad rep point. I gave you a +, I don't know if that brought you back to where you were.

Maybe the bad rep point was because of the foul language
I usually have the patience of Gandhi with technical problems, but computers (software) get me from zero to 220 in a nanosecond. Fortunately my wife has lately taken care of our computer stuff at home and at work we have the helpdesk.
I surf almost always with my iPad Air my wife got me for Christmas a couple of years ago. Works for me, although getting used to not having a hard disk took a while plus some things like inserting pics to CEF and other forums is a bit laborous with the touch screen.
I hope it's just the screen, because as you said, PCs are not so modular any more that you could easily replace/upgrade components anymore.
I also gave you a greenie to compensate the pita

Pen and paper is great for making notes and scribbling things down but computers are good for formal documents

Re: Oh Golldangitydagnabbit!
Dang Rusty another thing we have in common...Renie and I are 31st anniversary next month
I haven't had a hardware issue in many years now, my problem seems to be the non stop adaware crap that sneek in despite my having used and use just about every security, free and paid, program ever created
Any way brother.... sorting it out will not take you much time and hopefully it is simple fix (loose cable, monitor PS crapped out) If an integrated Video card(chip set) take a magnified look at the solder flow...I fixed one by reflowing a bad connection

Happy anniversary to you both Mr. Rusty!
I too shot you an extra greenie... figure the negative may have been an accident...we've had that before when the screen loads and "jumps" just as a person is punching stuff in. At least, I got to let my dial load all the way to prevent mistakes.
Good luck ironing out those techno problems !

Thanks guys. Yeah, I'm sure it was a mistaken click. No worries.
I'll see what I can figure out this afternoon. I've been meaning to open it up and blow the dust out anyway. The CPU temps have been a bit high, and as much video as I process, it could have been cooking too. However the POST beeps are normal. That's a good sign.

Got a new monitor now. Big and beautiful. After supper I'll get it all tuned in and start catching up on threads I've neglected for a couple of days.
Thanks for the 31 year kudos. I'd marry the same woman again if I had it to do all over.
Later,
Rusty

Rusty,
Congratulations to you and Holley on your 31st!
Anna and I celebrated our 48th. in May.

Hey, Gardener, see those + and - gizmos on the right side of the text editor...
Them's how you give greenies. They are your reputation points, I think. Seen under your avatar. The "+" gives a Greenie and the "-" gives a Reddie.
The Thanks button in any thread you create can be used once per thread, and give a member points, also listed under your avie. I hope I don't have that backwards.
I hope the anniversaries keep coming.

More about that. I've always gravitated to strong smart women, and it paid off. I'd never have been as successful as I have without her. A great match. Those that have met us as a couple, Ron Cribbs, Ken Cook, Mike Londke, Matt Mullaney(Microflitedude), more than I can write, especially the Stunthanger crowd, have seen how we are together. And that's pretty much us, even when nobody's looking. Pretty cool.RknRusty wrote:...Thanks for the 31 year kudos. I'd marry the same woman again if I had it to do all over.
