Thanks guys, but Bernie's instruction was to do whatever I wish with it. Matt offered me his entry which I will gladly accept as I dig the head setup on it.

I have enough engines so I thought it would be nice to raffle it off.

I would never enter my own engine on a race I was conducting. It's a conflict of interests. If I won it might be frowned upon!

Hey Getback is that your Unlimited that finished on top? And 17K+ out of stock Golden Bee for Bill M is pretty good also.

Neither of my entries were true Box stock Cox engines

Many/Most of the parts for the TeeDee came from ExModle engines...Matt

The last place unlimited reed engine is all RAW parts from Bernie at CoxInternational....

In this case, Ron Fired up a Bone stock engine that had never seen fuel before.   Still nice copper top piston

So the unbroken in engine did very well even in last place ...at over 18K RPM

If you look at the RPM and compare to ANY typical out of the box Black Widow or Golden Bee

Point is ---- each of these sources has good stuff that will certainly perform very well for flying an airplane

OK, So Ron managed to get a cantankerous TeeDee to run on gravity fast enough to bust the crank...easy... two new cranks on order from Matt

FWIIW you can nearly build a complete TeeDee from Matt's inventory

Found my notes, and I did pick the right TeeDee... ON Bladder I had it over 25K RPM a few times

And a final though...between Matt and Bernie you can mix and match engine colors to greatly enhance the performance and looks of any 1/2a airplane or car....

Say you have a stupid lot of Brodak Purple 'Kote...add a Purple tank, Drive washer, and spinner to the engine ---and make the most beautiful color coordinated Big Otto out there!

Yea thats me 1st place unlimited, Bernie's TD set i had just cleaned it after some more run time and replaced all the gaskets It is a real finger burner so i decided to turn the back plate so Ron wouldn't have that problem and it gained 1000 Rs in the process I was only getting around 19600 last run ! I am very pleased . The Stock was Tight and i never ran it !! The TD i was getting 20900 or so its a .051

Thanks Ron, you sure must have patience. I spent time on my unlimited until I ran out of time. My Golden Bee was a gift from and old flying buddy when he quit flying. I devarnished it, cleaned it up real well and sent it off. And thanks to Paul Gibeault for his Mouse Bible; lots of good hints in there.

You won unlimited class. Bill won stock class.

My 3rd place Unlimited was a mix n match RR-1 given to me years ago by Mudhen. I flew my Li'l Satan with it until it started leaking air. I sent it back to Mud, he went through it and returned it. Getting ready for the contest, I couldn't get it to sustain a run, and ran out of time. So I cleaned it up and gave it a quick blast of brake cleaner up the ol' breather chute and threw it in the box. That last shot of solvent must've been the magic, because Ron says it cranked right up. Talk about luck.

Yep, that did cross my mind, but it was more of a time thing, i almost think after a couple wins an engine should be retired. In hindsight i wish i would of sent my (one win) 'like new' 60's era Babe Bee and see how it would of stacked up to that Golden Bee...and of course i never got around to dialing in a Tee Dee.

I was worried when Ron said that many of the engines were over-compressed.. I ran one of Bernie's Tee Dee cylinder/piston sets on my single unlimited entry, with a high-comp./Tee Dee glow-head, using only one head-gasket.. and Bernie's re-pro Killer-Bee backplate. It had LOTS of compression once assembled.. but fired-off and ran fine on my bench with a starter-spring assist. The crankcase that I chose, may have cost me some revs though. It was an old Golden Bee case with plenty of hours on it.. and I basically just bolted it together with the rest of the parts.. using new gaskets. I didn't soak it.. or pull the crank. I had misplaced the bottom-end that I wanted to run, which I'd used on the Rare Bear engine. It was a new plain-anodized billet case.. but it had a hex drive-plate. A zero-drag starter-spring is tough to install over a hex drive-plate.. so I didn't scour my shop looking for it.

I didn't get a tach-reading before sending my engine off to Ron.. but I'm pleasantly-surprised with the results that he got!
