Is that what i think it is below the props?
1/2A Nut: is that a flex shaft below the props, or just a regular old hardened rod?
I had a broken flex shaft on an Atwood-WenMac OutBoard and i searched for years, at least 30, for a shaft that would replace the one in the broken Atwood OB. It was wound opposite to most flex shafts and actually made from a spring type material about 1/16 inch O.D. I tried all kinds of different things, but gave up finally and sold #2 Atwood WenMac about 15 years after selling #1, a complete AM OB 50 some years after my dad and i used them back in the mid 1950's and #2 went aground before we could catch it, threw a rod and the propeller into the old model yacht basin in Mission Bay near San Diego, CA where i grew up.
Time flies when you're having fun. We moved on to the Cox Water Wizard when it came out, only to have the engine pod vibrate and break off at Mono Lake up in the mountains near here. My dad used a small grapple hook to fish the engine out of about 30feet of water and some years later i converted it into an inboard hydroplane. When i went into the service in the late 1960's my parents threw out all my "toys", THEY thought i had outgrown. TD-4, PropRod, and the WaterWizard. I didn't speak to them for days.
Oh well.

I know the feeling. I had a dozen model planes hanging in my bedroom ceiling. Half were half-A CL (T/F Zero all balsa molded fuselage w/.020; Scientific Little Devil, Little Bipe, Cessna 180, own design Wildcat with 290 product engine, Dumas 1/2-A Tom Tom, Cox P-51A Mustang RTF, Sterling F-51 Mustang profile with Testor McCoy .19 Red Head and Guillow / Comet rubber powereds.) After I joined the Army, my father salvaged the engines, wheels and propellers and trashed the planes. But that was 48 years ago.)happydad wrote:When i went into the service in the late 1960's my parents threw out all my "toys", THEY thought i had outgrown. TD-4, PropRod, and the WaterWizard. Just a 2mm threaded steel shaft. Do you have a photo of the old one?

1/2A Nut:
I have a photo somewhere. I will dig it up and post later. I sold the #2 rig about 6 weeks ago after looking for the missing-broken parts since about 1990.
