killer bee 97

Post  ralfisbird on Sat 13 Nov - 8:39

Hello im mariano , again with another question . yesterday y have found at a local hobby shop in buenos aires called kanning , a 0.49 killer bee , in the classic red and black cox box , but no gold anodized cranckase , and no yellow neddle valve . After thinking a little time , i decided to buy it , but surprise . When arrive at home , and disasemble the plastic back plate , i found a classic babe bee cranckshaft . Inside the instruction manual have a 1997 model offer from sterling models by estes . the manual copyright is from cox 1995 . This is an estes killer bee ? , but from 1995-97 ? . I have a 1996 0.51 killer bee , with cranshaft , two grooves `piston , yellow neddle , gold anodized , etc , etc . And the box is the same , except for the 0.51 letter . The engine and box came untouched , with no indicators off be changed in the original box for a estes model by the hobby dealers .

Hi Mariano,
You can find a lot of Cox info here.
http://www.mh-aerotools.de/airfoils/cox_frameset.htm
Click Bees and scroll down to the Killer Bees.
Also click on the comparison box.
It sounds like you might have one of the later made ones,
or worse, just a plain product engine. Hope you didn't get
burned too badly.
Google or Yahoo "cox engine" and check out dozens of
sites and forums to find info.
Regards,
Bob
I like the layout of this forum. Smile

thank you Bob , Lol im not burned too much , seems like a mixed parts 97 (estes buy) killer bee . Lucky i have the original one , and i can compare both engines . Here in argentina its much difficult find a new in box cox engine , so even the carton box have a great value for me . I think a great number of post 97 killer bees , are not having the special hi speed crankshaft . If the engine not have the yellow needle valve its a good reason to think that engine is a estes mixed parts killer bee . other little difference is in the superior exhaust slit , in the original engine it has smaller height .

You're very welcome ralfisbird.
Even the mixed parts engines sing nicely.
If I can help, let me know.
Enjoy the hobby my friend.
Regards,
Bob
