Dont fix what aint broken
Hi guys, guess who decided to take the backplate off his perfectly running TeeDee 010 and fit a tank. Guess what, on returning it to the teststand, couldn't get it to run for more than a couple of seconds. I thought I could see bubbles at the crankcase/tank interface, so put the backplate back on. It's still the same, I can still see bubbles. what do I do? make a gasket, use liquid gasket or what. HELP!!!

There are a few things you can do. First thing would be to pressurize the tank. To do this close off the NV. Then take a syringe and push air into the tank through the fill tube and close off the overflow with your finger. If you see bubbles coming from the crank to tank seal or tank backplate or both then there is your problem.
Usually the tank backplate is the culprit. If the seal between the crankcase and tank is leaking you can lap the back of crankcase on a piece of fine sandpaper and that usually fixes the problem.
A new gasket may fix the tank back seal. I have seen folks use a sealant, but it's real easy to clog the fuel pickup hole due to it's proximity to the gasket.
