Hi guys me again. having missed out on the Queen Bee, I have a new idea/project. I have come across a great plan for a Fornier RF4. Babe Bee powered. I'm thinking Iv'e got to build one, but could I modify one of my Babe Bees to make it rc and fit it with a nice looking Cox muffler? 2 projects. Yippee, summer seems to have arrived in the U.K. Very Happy Flying

Awhile back throttle sleeve/cylinder combos were being sold on eBay by a fellow who was custom making them. They were less than twenty dollars and the one I bought works great. Throttles from 5000 rpm to 15000 rpm with 6x3. Here's the version made by cox:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/049-RC-Radio-Control-Throttle-Ring-Set-for-Cox-049-Surestart-Model-Engine-/390370583918?pt=US_Radio_Control_Control_Line&hash=item5ae3e6656e

I can't recommend it enough!

I don't know if they will work together, they look like they wil. Check these out. I'm sure someone knows if they will work together. I use the throttle back plate and like it. It would work better on a servo I think. On a three line bellcrank it has it's problems to over come. I plan to put mine on a 2.4 servo and run two lines.

The throttle rings work ok but the rear-mounted throttle seems to work better (cannot be used in conjunction with SPI cylinder/piston setup).

Our throttle rings will not fit engines with die-cast crankcases.

Rear throttle and muffler can be used together.

I have one of each r/c option, and they both work a-treat.

http://coxengines.ca/throttle-conversion-for-cox-049-engine-tanked.html
http://coxengines.ca/throttle-ring-for-cox-049-engine.html
http://coxengines.ca/throttle-ring-assembly-for-cox-049-engine.html
Both are available from Bernie and they're each cheaper from Bernie than that one on e-bay. Both r/c options work absolutely faultlessly with one 6g servo. If you need more than a 6g servo on your r/c Bee then you have other problems which you ought to sort out.

Disclaimer: I don't work for Bernie, nor do do paid endorsements.

Hi,

If you are using Cox Surestart, or any other non-SPI type of cox engine, try Bernie's throttle back plate, or Dragonfly type of throttle muffler. check this out for the throttle muffler performance :

I'm building Fournier recently too, just that I can't find liteply locally .
I missed my my first Fournier built about 12 years ago, from pull out plan ( Radio Modeller 1992 Oct ) I'm trying to build another one , and the plan can be download at
http://www.outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=2312

is that the one you are building now?

No I got confused it this Ogar I'm building.http://www.outerzone.co.uk/images/thumbs/plans/3915.jpg. However, I must get a copy of that Fournier plan. It's very tempting.

Cheers Flying
