Re: Happy Birthday 1/2A NUT!!!
Hey all its Brad,
I wanted to thank you each and everyone of you for giving me such warm wishes on my birthing day
Lovely picture of the hottie on the mustang thank you Eric and colorful icons gave me a smile
Hard to believe another year has gone by wow wow so many ideas for projects and so many not done lol!!!!
I have been working on an engine on my birthday enjoying Saturday free time yessah!
Balogh still working on the Skorch II will post more soon.
With Randy's help from Mecoa a package came in the mail today on me birthday so doing yet another car engine conversion (Picco P-zero .05) so I can have some backup engines for the larger Skorch II project.
Tested a new in the box old stock AME .061 last weekend with the 1/2A Skorch:
Vid is HD 60fps ideal for showing actual speed. The Norvel allowed
excellent acceleration and thrust for the first time on a 4.2x4 this is a break in flight
only 2oz of fuel ran on the bench prior o the flight. on the third flight it topped 28k+
28,238 rpm / 107 mph - new bench mark happened about 5 mins into the flight
The AP Wasp .061 needed the 4.5x4 in order to make the same thrust.

Re: Happy Birthday 1/2A NUT!!!
I do love that Skorch! I'd really like to see that Picco run sometime. That conversion to aircraft power is a Larry Driskill creation if I'm not mistaken. I think it was Ken Cook that had a picco at Huntersville last fall, but I'm not sure if it was 1/2A. Either way, I never saw it run.
I'm glad you had a nice relaxing Bday, Brad. I'm glad to know your name too. Now I don't have to call you "The Nut" all the time Lol.
Carry on!

Re: Happy Birthday 1/2A NUT!!!
The high performance crank is subject to breaking some have reported breaking them running past 30k. Larry came up with a solution to protect the crank. For me I just bought a Sportzwerk crank same size and fit and not so thinly bored out some loss in rpm. I plan to keep it under 30k and enjoy the quality of the engine and only flip start.
Shown with a APC 4.75x4
All done .052ci .85cc engine stock rated for 35k rpm.
Went with a AP .09 carb

1/2A Nut do you happen to know the phone number of the guy selling the tuned pipes on ebay? I gather he lives in Florida. I sent him an email through ebay but he did not reply.
I am in Orlando today and tomorrow and in case I could reach him somewhere in the neighborhood I woud visit him for a tuned pipe...
Thanks in advance

Re: Happy Birthday 1/2A NUT!!!
He doesn't list his phone number I checked, your best bet is to email him on MSN he would check that
more so then ebay if he doesn't have any current stock on hand. He has told me he places large
orders in bulk when he buys then sales only on ebay. I sent him an email tonight as I want a few more
spare pipes one for bench testing one more for another plane project. I only have two and that's just
not enough lol!!!
