K and Bee Custom Speed engine from Leo Squires
I found these pictures and thought you all might like to see them. It's a rear intake conversion of a Tornado .049 with a BB crankshaft. Runs pretty good but Leo ran it with a Cox 6x3 so it wasn't going real speedy but those little rods don't hang on to much anyway. He mounted it in an old 1/2A pan for me. He's a master at getting the most from very little and loves old stuff so we get along fine. I sent him an old Froom spinner and Plasticote prop to finish out the old time look.

Don't get me wrong, that's a nice looking conversion, but I would have serious reservations about that beam mount modification. I would imagine that any minor vibration would be amplified due to the mount flexing at the rear of the beams. I could see a fracture occurring in a very short time of running.

I have one of those with a buggered up tank. The needle valve is rusted in. Now I know what I can do to get it running again! Thanks for sharing.
