Windfall (lucky me)
I recently saw a box of bits on Fleabay and in it were some silencers that I needed - wanted - suddenly couldn't live without! I also saw a couple of grotty engines (not that I haven't enough yet!) and a DC crankcase that I have been looking for to replace a broken one.
I have a few engines in dire need of silencers and so £20 seemed a reasonable bid. I won the auction and, as usual with me, couldn't be arsed opening the box until this evening.
In it - a mighty fine collection of silencers in dire need of a good clean up but mostly intact.
I found the DC crankcase - in good condition and then pulled out the motors.
All seized - a Merco 35 with a busted crankcase, an Irvine with the needle missing, an LA 46 with a busted NVA and no needle and what could be a Fox 40 with missing cylinder head, loose backplate (no screws) and no venturi or NVA.
The package came in two boxes and the second box contained engine mounts, fuel tubing still in packets, unused wheels and propellers and there was a box with a complete and unrun OS FP 15 r/c but ................... inside the box was this .............
A KK Cobra - a very rare little beast. Only missing the backplate screws (8 BA) and the reed (cox equiv). I have been trying to get hold of one of these for years. It will get bumped up my restoration list!

Well done on the Cobra Ian. A very desirable collector's piece. Quite a good haul. Nice looking Irvine too.

Receiving a package like that would thrill me. The KK Cobra is the KKiller.

Re: Windfall (lucky me)
Very sweet Ian,
When I first saw DC crank case I thought of a die cast Cox crank case. The Davies Charlton crank case is a great find. Which engine is it to? And, is it a DC or Allbon crank case? Great haul!

Good haul Ian, that Fox .40 is not the good one so I wouldn't spend a lot of time on it. I have an Irvine .46 identical to the one in the picture, new and un-run. Have no idea if it's worth anything.
Please shoot us a pic of the Cobra after cleanup.
