Roddie
I congratulate you in advance. I wonder if the cylinder pointing towards the center of the flight circle instead of outward when the centrifugal forces would help the charging of the cylinder, is the optimum setup?
Andras.

Thanks Andras.. but "it ain't over yet".. That airplane was a great flier, back when I was first learning. Back then it had a Golden Bee with upright-oriented cylinder. I haven't flown it with the external tank.. or the cylinder facing inward. The engine was just thrown-on there when I felt like taking some "snow-photos" one day. It was more to show-off the skis than anything else. I've never flown it with the skis either..
Here's another that was taken a year earlier (2014)
The skis are my own design.. and are fairly lightweight (8gr./pair)

I SEE WE HAVE A WINNER!!! Congratulations to roddie and his plane with what looks like a product engine (I'll have to ask him about it before putting it up)!
Thank You Jacob, Yes.. it is an .049 product engine. Thanks also to all who participated and voted. The airplane is of my own design and has functional flaps. The control-linkages were taken off years ago for some paint touch-up. I have them in a paper bag somewhere here..

Thanks Eric! My wife doesn't like the look of the girl-pilot. "She has no neck" she says.. Well.. she came from a craft-store with a "wire-neck" that was perfect for poking-down into the fuse to anchor her! She's lost a lot of hair over the years though.. but heck; so have I! In a few years, I'll re-name her "Sinead"..

Ha ha!... Thanks Joe.. I won't tell... I have some G.I. Joes.. locked-up.. (never mind..) I've found more fun things that I've sourced for models at old craft-outlets than could be imagined! Wheels are one of my favorites! Pilot-heads.. are another.
This little guy is made from 3 pieces; his "head".. a "top-hat".. and a dowel-rod to mount him in the cockpit. (penny-items) He adorns one of my self-designed little profile 1/2A C/L "beaters" built 20+ years ago.. that hasn't seen sky yet.. I named it "The Magician". The wind-screen is just a piece of clear plastic sheet glued-into a slot cut with a razor-saw.
It utilizes the "flat-framed" wing-construction that I've previously posted about.. and an engine-cowling made from the old quart-size soda-bottle bottoms. Remember them? They're in the foreground of this photo below.
The nose is sized to fit just inside the cowl.. and the recessed-engine-mount is for a simple horse-shoe backplate/.049 reed-valve engine with a rather "large" external wedge-tank. (see the cut-out for it, behind the engine-mount) The cowl and hardware for this model is also stored in a bag.. waiting for final assembly.
Probably weighs less than 6oz. all-up.

Congrats Roddie! Another great design... And the Magician, wow
Maybe you should sacrifice one of your old leather gloves, cut the thumb off and make your pilot an old-style helmet

Re: **VOTE-ON-THE-NEXT-COX-ENGINE-OF-THE-MONTH** (March 2017)
Thanks very much everybody! I feel a little guilty.. having won with a plain-old "Product-Engine"... but as has been discussed before; sometimes it's the "theme" in which the engine is presented, that attracts votes. Maybe it was the skis.. maybe the "blonde-gal" pilot.. the model sitting in the snow.. ? It certainly wasn't the engine alone..
Kari.. I like the "leather-helmet made from an old glove finger-tip" idea! A piece of ribbon for a scarf would also look cool.. blowing in the breeze! A pair of silver or gold "sequins" glued/sewn to it, might make great-looking goggles too! I just might try that!
