Norvel on a Bladder

Norvel on a Bladder
I'm looking for info on modifying a cox needle to run a Norvel .049 on a bladder. Asking for a friend that is running one on a trainer with his grandson. Not sure why he went that route instead of a suction tank but that is what he needs. I have 2 of Larry Driskall's needle's but I'm not willing to give them up. Who's running Norvels on bladders and what are you using?

Re: Norvel on a Bladder
Mike, I did a post on doing this on here a few years ago. Just some things to note. What version is the Norvel? Some came with a glued in venturi and some with a bolt on. If it's the bolt on, you can remove the venturi in it's entirety. Source the Cox 128 fine threaded needle and and drill the case .003" smaller than the spraybar and it can be pressed in. If the case is the version where the venturi is epoxied in, heat case to soften epoxy and remove . These cases have a very large hole in the case. A F2d Fora/Cyclon etc wide bodied spraybar will press into the case with little to no modification. It just needs to be centered. Any F2D assembly works superior. Unfortunately, the bolt on venturi cases don't have enough meat to open the holes up to use them.
If keeping the venturi intact is a must, a Driskill unit is a direct fit, however the Cox isn't and the hole needs to be sleeved with 5/32" tubing first. I get up inside the carb body from underneath and remove material to allow the hole to point as much of a downward angle to the crank as possible.

I remember Ken's post. I copied his work and was very satisfied with the results. I was simple and clean and produced great results. Good luck getting it all working.
