Re: DURACRAP...................
I remember the original "DURACRAP" reference.. That was funny.. I read a little bit further in the Midget forum thread about the "ZS" carbs being used on some Lotus Europa's. I've always loved that car! There's one in Medway, Ma. near my Dad's house. Occasionally I'll see it.. if the guys' garage-door is open. I had the original Lesney/Matchbox model as a kid. Recently I've been collecting Mattel "Hot Wheels" miniatures. A few years ago, they started producing the classic American Muscle-Cars of the 1960's/70's.. and I bought a couple every time I went to WalMart. Years ago, Mattel bought-out Lesney of England.. but still produces the Matchbox brand of miniatures. The Matchbox brand tends to stay true to actual scale models.. rather than the wild-customs associated with the Hot Wheels brand.
Here's my Mattel/Matchbox 1972 Lotus Europa Special..
Pretty nice detailing for such a small model.
This Mattel/Matchbox 1968 Ford Mustang GT/CS (California Special) is one of my favorites.. and one that I'm sure your son Mark would appreciate.
I need to capture some better photos of my collection. Most of my photos of them were not shot in "Macro".. and are blurry. Some of the blurry photos are kinda' cool though.. like this Mattel/Hot Wheels 1970 Buick GSX.. (just one of the dozens of Hot Wheels American Muscle-Car series that I've collected)
All of the miniatures are unopened in their original packaging.. although I've been very tempted to remove them.. for some better shots.. and/or building dioramas for certain groups of vehicles. They're all too recent to become valuable any time soon.
